4. 22 .21. My poetry/photo piece, ‘O Monarda!,’ is featured in Hollis Moore’s publication ‘Rootwalk, for ‘Flagged Memories,’ an Urban Ecologies project at the Santa Fe Railyard Park. ‘Flagged Memories’ will be up at the Railyard Park throughout the summer.

12. 20. 20. I’ll be participating in System Change Not Climate Change’s ‘Artist Showcase’ on December 20th at 2pm MT, along with several other ecology and justice-minded artists of different disciplines.
10. 28. 20. On Sunday Dec.6th, I’ll be giving a short presentation on the important role of art in environmental activism at a benefit for The Green Amendment. I am proud to stand with Maya van Rossum and her incredible team in the work to protect our air, water, land, and climate through state and federal constitutional amendments.
10. 26. 20. I’ve been awarded a grant from the Fulcrum Fund, a grant program of 516 Arts in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts, which is this year a pandemic artist assistance grant. I’m honored and grateful for their support!

Jeanette Hart-Mann and I will be interviewed during the National Coalition Against Censorship’s live virtual benefit about our experience with censorship and our work with the National Coalition Against Censorship. The NCAC has been an invaluable ally to us, and to so many other artists addressing critical issues of our times, and we are honored to support them at this important event. The benefit begins at 6:30 pm EST on Wednesday, Nov. 11th.

I’m delighted to have an essay and series of 4 drawings, issuing from an interview exchange with ecological herbalist, Dara Saville, of Albuquerque Herbalism and The Yerba Mansa Project, included in the upcoming edition of SeedBroadcast Journal. The work is part of a larger project exploring different forms of relationship to land and land reciprocity, and in this iteration we take a look at Dara's powerful account of her connection to Albuquerque's West Mesa landscape.

I’ll be joining fellow colleagues from the Tool Book Project for ‘CIRCA Presents: The Tool Book Project: Collaborative and Community Engaged Art,’ a panel organized by Editor/Curator of Tool Book, Sarah Sharp, at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. 10. 5. 20. Jeanette Hart- Mann and I will be presenting on the zines, our censorship battle, and our upcoming project, The Chronicle of Disappeared Arts, at 'Emerging Conversations,' an online symposium created by The University of Arizona, on Saturday, Oct. 24th.
4. 2. 20. Journalist Elizabeth Miller has covered the recent censorship of our community-engaged art zines in a new story for the arts publication, Hyperallergic.

Jeanette Hart-Mann and I recently spoke with the National Coalition Against Censorship to discuss the censorship of the Greater Chaco Art Zines and strategize approaches to build public awareness of this issue and prepare for our final petition push. NCAC have been powerful advocates for us and we look forward to continued work together. Their letter on our behalf is posted on their website. Thank you NCAC!

I’m excited to join other Art & Ecology faculty, students and alumni with work in the upcoming exhibit, Earth-Style Concerns: Art & Ecology at UNM, at Visual Arts Gallery at The Santa Fe Community College. The show will run April 9-April 30 with the reception on April 17th at 4-6:30pm. (Note this event has been postponed due to Covid-19 health concerns).

Thrilled to announce that Jeanette Hart-Mann and I have been invited to present on our work at The University of New Mexico School of Law’s upcoming symposium, focusing on environmental law, and celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Natural Resources Journal (NRJ), the oldest journal on natural resources and environmental law in the country. We will be presenting on Friday, March 27th- time & location TBA. (Note this event has been postponed due to Covid-19 health concerns).
2. 18. 20. Honored to have been invited to present on our work at the University of California Santa Cruz's conference in April, 'All-in: Co-Creating Knowledge for Justice.' Jeanette Hart-mann and I will speak about our collaborative work with amazing Diné and Pueblo community organizers of The Greater Chaco Coalition- working with Land Arts of the American West artists- to create amplification projects regarding impacts of fracking on communities and ecologies of the Greater Chaco landscape of Northwestern New Mexico. We will also be discussing subsequent efforts to counter censorship of these issues by state-sponsored cultural organizations (www.greaterchacoartzines.org). I’m very excited to be collaborating on a series of pedagogical projects on digital platforms with artist and educator, Christine Howard Sandoval, who is teaching at Emily Carr University of Art & Design in Vancouver. This week I’ll be leading a workshop with her students, titled ‘Plants + People Kicking Ass Together,’ in her class, ‘Reciprocity and Land Based Art.’
12. 17. 19. We’ve launched the website, Greater Chaco Art Zines, and the petition ‘Tell the New Mexico DCA & Museum of Art: Come Clean About Policy on Exhibiting Artworks Addressing the Fossil Fuel Industry in New Mexico.’
10. 24. 19. Join us for the launch of Work Book at The Block Gallery, N.Y. NY (6:00 pm), with a panel discussion (beginning at 6:30pm). Jeanette Hart-Mann and I will be skyping in from New Mexico to discuss our contribution, ‘Censorship Timeline: Hey, It’s Another State-sponsored Obfuscation in Cultural Real-Time,’ our artistic response to and account of the censorship of the Chaco Art Zine, ‘Imbalance’ by the New Mexico Museum of Art and the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. The zine addresses the harms of fracking on communities in the Greater Chaco area, and was made in collaboration with Diné and Pueblo community leaders, who generously met with us to discuss how fossil fuel development has impacted their communities.
Work Book also features a risograph pull-out poster that I designed, with an essay entitled ‘People, Plants, and the Work That Lies Before Us,’ and accompanying artwork, ‘People and Plants Kicking Ass Together’; both speak to the relationship between activism, plant intelligence, herbalism, and resilience.
